Try as you might, you can’t keep every ounce of dirt and debris out of your pool. Your Bahama Blue service experts are always here when you need us, but we understand that sometimes you need to do a little bit of pool-cleaning in between visits. Fortunately, there are a ton of products on the market that can help keep your pool clean. Which one you buy depends on what you need and how much work you want to put into your pool cleaning duties.
ROBOTIC CLEANER
If you’re a Roomba kind of person, then you’re in luck: Today’s robotic pool cleaners do pretty much the same thing, except underwater. They’re self-powered and free-floating—meaning they don’t attach to your pool’s existing system—and some of them even us AI to map out your pool’s dimensions and determine the best, most efficient way to clean it. Just drop it in and let it do its thing—though you will have to clean out the receptacle on occasion. The only con is the higher price point.
AUTOMATIC PRESSURE-SIDE CLEANER
Pressure-side cleaners also have their own receptacle for gathering debris, but in this case they’re attached to—and powered by—your pool’s return pump. Still, like a robotic cleaner, you can drop a pressure-side cleaner into your pool and let it cruise around for extended periods of time. Once again, because it carries its own receptacle, a pressure-side clearner has to be periodically emptied out.
AUTOMATIC SUCTION CLEANER
Alternately, a suction cleaner attaches to your skimmer as opposed to your pump, so the suction from the pump powers its vacuuming capabilities and also pulls it around your pool. They’re fairly affordable and easy to use, but you do have to set them up for every designated cleaning session and then detatch them afterward. And there’s no AI here, so their path will be random. But because its hose goes directly into your skimmer, there’s nothing to empty.
MANUAL CLEANER
If you don’t mind a bit of elbow grease, a manual cleaner may actually be your best bet. Like a suction cleaner, you attach a manual cleaner via a hose to your skimmer. But you also have a long pole attached to move the cleaner around your pool. Think of it as an underwater upright vacuum.
Manual cleaners are going to be your most affordable option, and because they’re so simple, you don’t have to worry about repairs. Plus, because you’re the one in charge, you can tackle the debris you see quickly just by guiding the cleaner in the right direction.
